He will race in the Alfa Mito of the Tedak team

The first round of the Italian Rallycross Championship is approaching, despite the pandemic nightmare, and the confirmations of the drivers who will be at the start of the Easter weekend at the Maggiora Offroad Arena are starting to arrive.

Much interest has been aroused by the announcement of the strong rally driver from Romagna Paolo Diana of his participation in the Italian RX Championship with the Alfa Mito Super1600 Tedak Racing, a team that by the way still has another Mito Super1600 available for hire.

"Talking with Andrea from Tedak Racing,' Diana explains, ' the crazy idea of participating in the Tricolour RX took shape. The reason? We are both motorsport lovers, and rallycross is a different discipline from the ones I have done so far. Rallycross intrigues me,' Diana continues, ' because while from the WRC to the minor categories it is now essential to drive cleanly, unfortunately also to the detriment of fun, in Rallycross there is still some room for improvisation, also because you start together with other drivers so it is difficult to plan the race in advance. Precisely for this reason in my opinion, at least as a spectator, it is one of the most fun disciplines.

Diana is waiting for the right moment to test the Alfa Mito: 'I haven't even had a chance to get into the car yet! I hope to do some tests soon, possibly at Maggiora, because this is a totally new experience for me. However, I am very excited at the idea of starting this new adventure,' concludes Diana. ' I have followed some world championship races on TV and some Italian Championship races on social networks. The thing that has stayed with me the most is that all the drivers seem to enter the track with a knife between their teeth and I will have to acclimatise quickly given that I am used to racing alone in PS, concentrating exclusively on my driving. In Rallycross, on the other hand, you also have to pay attention to what the other drivers are doing and the 'hand-to-hand' will be a new and definitely tough experience. I hope that I won't be a stopper for anyone and that I can cope with the more experienced drivers. From what I've seen there are some very strong and experienced drivers and experience counts for a lot in Rallycross!"

The Super1600 category, which in 2020 was one of the most spectacular, will also see the return of Marco and Matteo Valazza, after last season's stop; Marco, already Italian champion in 2017 and 2019, again at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta, while his nephew Matteo will drive his Citroen Saxo.

Also for Super1600, Silvano Ruga (Renault Clio), Marco Valsesia (Citroen Saxo) and Armando Tocchio (Citroen Saxo), among others, have already confirmed their participation.

In the coming days some of the other protagonists of the Tricolour RX Championship will be presented.
