All set at Maggiora Offroad Arena

We are almost there! Soon the engines will start and the great adventure of the Italian Rallycross Championship will begin!

Round 1 of the Tricolore RX will take place on Monday 5 April, organised by Sport Club Maggiora, which is also the promoter of the entire championship.

Almost fifty cars have registered for the first round of the Championship, which will start under strict anti-COVID protocols.

STC, a category that promises battle, Castoral permitting

There will be six cars in the Supertouring Cars category competing on Easter Monday in Maggiora: the great ruler of 2020, Czech Roman Castoral, will be at the start, who in his Opel Astra OPC last year won practically every time he took to the track.

Among the drivers who will try to counter the strong Czech driver are Franco "Frenk" Fusi with his Renault Clio, Mattia Nicolini, who after a good debut in 2020 will return with his Citroen AX, and Matteo Valazza, who after his experience in Super1600 will compete in the STC with his Citroen Saxo. Also worth mentioning is the debut of Ettore Barberis from Piedmont, who will compete with a Honda Civic.

Alberto Palestrini, the sole representative of STC+, will also be at the start in his trusty Renault Super 5.

Latest news in Super1600

Nils Volland 's entry with his Audi A1 has arrived on the wire. Volland, after having participated in the September rounds of the 2020 championship, has decided to return to Maggiora with the clear objective of victory in the category that will also see the return to Rallycross of Paolo Popy Barbieri with the Peugeot 208.

Round 1 live on Facebook - free of charge - and on Bandw.tv!

As already widely announced, once again the races of the Italian Rallycross Championship will be behind closed doors. Compared to the last announcements, however, there is a novelty: the entire day of competition will be broadcast free of charge on Facebook and on Bandw.tv. 'In this way,' explains Riccardo Fasola, president of Sport Club Maggiora, 'we want to meet the demands of the fans: the production effort will be great, but we feel it is right to give as much visibility as possible to our sport, especially in this time of great difficulty.

With this in mind, in addition to the live broadcast on the official Facebook page, RX Italia, starting at 10.40am, the live coverage on Bandw.tv and the report that will be aired in ACI Sport's TV Magazine, the Round 1 finals will be broadcast on GO TV (channel 163 DDT) on Wednesday 7 April at 9.15pm, and from Thursday 8 April for one week also on Bandw.tv.
