We have entered the week leading up to Round 1 of the Italian Rallycross Championship, scheduled as traditionally on Easter weekend, April 8/9/10 at Maggiora Offroad Arena.
Anticipation is growing for the first race of a season that promises to be spectacular, and we will certainly get our first taste of it in this Round.
RX5
The Italian Vice Champion, Fabio Mezzatesta, has all intentions of fighting for the title in 2023 as well and will be at the start with a Hyundai i20 R5: the competition, however, will be very fierce, starting with Gianmarco Donetto (Fabia R5), who was able to win both of the two races he participated in in 2022 and has already confirmed his presence for the entire championship. Also at the start in Maggiora will be Lucamaria Rizzello (Peugeot 208 R5), the patron of Maggiora Park, the sister facility of Maggiora Offroad Arena, Stefano Avandero (Fabia R5) and, a decidedly interesting novelty, the young and high-performing Jenni Sonzogni, who performed well in 2022 in Super1600 and will be at the wheel of a Fabia R5.
Supercar
Rosario Corallo and his Subaru Impreza will be at the start to win their third consecutive tricolor title, but already in this first race they will have to defend themselves against attacks from 2018 champion Marco Noris (Skoda Fabia R5) and Werner Gurschler of South Tyrol (Ford Fiesta).
Super Touring Car
It will be, in its different declinations, one of the main categories of Round 1. In STC -2000, Italian Champion Marco Nicolini (Peugeot 205) will try to defend his title from an increasingly numerous competition, starting with Vice Champion 2022 Arianna Corallo (Opel Astra), to continue with Ermes Mapi (Renault Clio) who last year proved to be very fast, to rookies Andrea Tonoli (Fiat Punto) and Simone Mora (Renault Clio).
Definitely interesting is the STC -1600, which will see the return of Franco Fusi with his trusty Renault Clio, Vice Italian Champion Marco Valsesia (Citroen Saxo) and the "terrible cousins," Daniele and Damiano Delfino, both at the wheel of a Citroen Saxo. Matteo Valazza, again on a Citroen Saxo, will not be missing, while Michele Andolina, who has switched from Supercar to a Renault Clio STC-1600, and the very young, still Under 18, Valentino Ledda (Peugeot 208 R2) are expected with curiosity.
Sport RX
The new category will see (at the moment) Daniele Catena at the start at the wheel of a Fiat 500 Proto and Massimo Manzato in an Opel Tigra Proto.
Kartcross
A good battle is expected between former Italian Champions Maicol Giacomotti (KC) and Gabriele Zoppetti (Viper Master Racing) and Italian Vice Champion Riccardo Canzian (Speedcar Xtreme) with level outsiders like Mauro Vicario (Speedcar Xtreme), Nicolò and Matteo Grieco (GMN Kart Cross)
Also noteworthy is the presence, in addition to Nicola Morlacchi (Planet Kart Corss K3), who will turn 18 just on Easter Monday, of U18 Matteo Bernini (KC) and Marcus Antonio Martinelli (GMN Kart Cross); also at the start will be Belgians Arnaud Demelenne (Kamikaz K3) and Lukas Schwall (Planet Kart Cross K3) and Dutchman Nathan Ottink (Lifelive TN5).
Speaking of drivers from other nations, the Swiss Autocross Championship (SAV), with its load of drivers and passionate fans, will also return, and it is a tradition that will touch its 10th anniversary in this edition.
Maggiora Music Festival
But it will not only be an Easter (and Easter Monday) of engines: Sport Club Maggiora, organizer of Round 1 and Promoter of the Championship, will in fact propose on Saturday, April 8, Maggiora Music Festival, the opening party of the Championship that will see first a presentation of the Championship and its protagonists; afterwards we will be able to get wild thanks to the music of the famous Deejay Renee La Bulgara, already present last year at the Night Race and elected in 2022 Best Woman Deejay.
Maggiora Music Festival, which will also feature the participation of Resident DJ Dj Veleno, will be held in the marquee positioned between the bar and paddocks and will be open to all: admission will be free.

Italian Rallycross Championship: this is it!
We have entered the week leading up to Round 1 of the Italian Rallycross Championship, scheduled as traditionally on Easter weekend, April 8/9/10 at Maggiora Offroad Arena.
Anticipation is growing for the first race of a season that promises to be spectacular, and we will certainly get our first taste of it in this Round.
RX5
