There is just over a week to go until one of the highlights of the year for Maggiora Offroad Arena: on the weekend of September 12/13/14 , the Italian stage, the seventh, of the FIA European Autocross Championship will take center stage.

All the best drivers on the continent will be at the starting line in Maggiora: the Pragiarolo track is part of European autocross history, and for an autocross driver, winning here is like winning at Monaco for a Formula 1 driver.

As always, cars from all categories will be at the starting line in Maggiora: Super Buggy, Buggy 1600, Junior Buggy, Cross Car, and Junior Cross Car.

Super Buggy

A heated duel is expected between Czech riders Petr NIKODÉM (CM Racing Honda) and Zdeněk ANTONY (Alfa Racing AR-002), the reigning champion, who are currently separated by just 5 points after 6 races: 141 for the former, who overtook his compatriot in the last race before Maggiora, in Přerov (CZE), and 136 for the latter. However, they are not far behind, and their closest rivals are sure to put up a great fight, starting with Frenchman Robert THEUIL (Alfa Racing AR1111), third with 128 points, followed by His Majesty, Germany's Bernd STUBBE (Peters Autosport Volvo 3.2), with 11 European titles won in his career and 4th with 116 points, and finally another representative of the Czech Republic, Radek JORDÁK (Alfa Racing Mitsubishi), currently 5th with 103 points.

Buggy 1600

The Czech Republic is also doing well in this category thanks to Jakub NOVOTNÝ (Alfa Racing Hayabusa), currently in the lead with 156 points. Second place goes to Germany's Rene MANDEL (Fast & Speed Buggy 1600), 20 points behind the leader. Third is Frenchman Damien CREPEAU (Propulsion S4), with 103 points. Three drivers are tied for fourth place with 94 points after the sixth round: Dutchmen Styn JASPERS (Alfa Racing Buggy 1600), Danny VAN DEN BERG (BAS Buggy 1600), and Rudy VAN BUREN (Peters Autosport Buggy 1600).

Junior Buggy

This seems to be the year of the Czech Republic: Ladislav HANÁK (Alfa Racing GSX-R) leads the Junior Buggy standings with 151 points and will certainly have to defend himself from the attacks of his closest rival, Frenchman Malone FEUILLADE (Alfa Racing Junior Buggy), who is nine points behind. Just three points behind the Frenchman, keep an eye on Czech Martin KOLOMÝ (Alfa Racing Junior Buggy) as well; in fourth and fifth place are two other Czechs, Eliška PLNÁ (Marat Engineering Adel AC), with 113 points, and Ondřej POSPÍŠIL (Alfa Racing Junior Buggy), with 105 points.

Cross Car

In this category, we will witness a spectacular duel between Spain and France: the leader is Frenchman David MEAT (LifeLive TN11); the reigning champion is 9 points ahead of one of his historic rivals, Spaniard Ivan PIÑA CHINCHILLA (LifeLive TN11).

Third and fourth place went to two other French drivers, Yoann GILLOUIN (Camotos Rapace), with 139 points, and Vincent MERCIER (Speed-Car Wonder-R) with 112 points. Finally, in fifth place was a Spaniard, Juan Jose MOLL HERNANDEZ (LifeLive TN11), with 108 points.

Junior Cross Car

Spain dominates this category, with three drivers, all on LifeLive TN11, within 20 points: Oscar FUERTES HERNANDEZ (127 p), Abel GONZALEZ VIAL (113 p), and Iago RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ (107 p). Belgian Jordan GENTEN (Camotos Rapace) is fourth with 102 points, while German Henri HAAF (LifeLive TN11) is fifth with 79 points.

A great weekend

There will be more than just sports during the long European Championship weekend: Friday, September 12 will also see the return of the spectacular Notte Bianca (White Night), with a parade of cars along the streets of Maggiora, food stands, and musical performances. In short, it will be a weekend not to be missed!
